Dr Arthur Movsisyan, surgeon at New Hair Graft Clinic, Mauritius
A Renowned Hair Transplant Specialist in Mauritius
Based in Mauritius since 2003, Dr Arthur Movsisyan has performed more than 6,000 hair transplants throughout his career. A specialist in hair restoration and cosmetic surgery, he is the only doctor in Mauritius who is a member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS), the global reference in the field of hair transplantation.
Co-founder of the New Hair Graft center, located at C-Care Grand Baie, he is now a leading figure in the treatment of hair loss in Mauritius.
But behind the renowned surgeon is also a man passionate about art, nature, and exploration.
Mauritius: From a Childhood Dream to a Professional Reality
As a teenager in Armenia, a country of mountains and forests, Arthur Movsisyan discovered a 50-cent coin from the island of Mauritius brought back by his parents. That small coin became the symbol of a dream: one day living on a distant tropical island.
Years later, that dream became reality. Having lived in Mauritius for over 20 years, he has built both his medical career and his personal life there.
Photography and Hiking: Another Way of Seeing Mauritius
Alongside his work in hair transplantation, Dr Movsisyan nurtures a passion for landscape photography and hiking.
Captivated by the island’s natural beauty, he created the Facebook page “MovArt Photography,” which today brings together nearly 19,000 followers, including many enthusiasts internationally. His photographs highlight Mauritian landscapes and have even enabled him to participate in several international competitions.
For him, the mountains remain a refuge:
“Hiking is a way for me to recharge emotionally and physically.”
A clear legacy of his native Armenia, where he grew up surrounded by mountainous landscapes.
A Philosophy of Life Focused on Exploration
If he could make three wishes, Dr Movsisyan would choose:
the health and happiness of his two sons,
the well-being of his loved ones,
traveling and exploring the world, particularly Africa, Victoria Falls, and Mount Kilimanjaro.
Curious and open-minded, he believes that every experience—positive or negative—shapes one’s personality. He would change nothing about his journey, except perhaps the possibility of preventing the wars or natural disasters he experienced in his youth.
A Physician-Artist: Cosmetic Surgery as a Form of Art
Had he not chosen medicine, he would likely have turned to archaeology or sculpture.
Passionate about drawing, wood and stone carving, painting, and even philately and numismatics, he considers cosmetic surgery and hair restoration to be a form of medical art.
“Hair transplantation is not limited to a physical transformation. It boosts self-confidence and allows patients to regain true emotional well-being.”
International Medical Expertise in Hair Restoration
Born in Armenia, graduated in medicine in 1991, and specialized in cosmetic surgery in Saint Petersburg, Dr Movsisyan has explored several disciplines:
maxillofacial surgery
microsurgery
reconstructive surgery for burns and trauma
Since 2002, he has mainly dedicated himself to hair restoration and the treatment of hair loss.
Always striving for excellence, he regularly participates in international training programs and conferences.
In January 2024, he co-founded New Hair Graft with Dr Daoud Ingar, creating a center of excellence dedicated to hair transplantation in Mauritius.
A Human-Centered Vision of Hair Transplantation in Mauritius
Beyond technical expertise, Dr Movsisyan’s approach is built on three pillars:
certified medical expertise
personalized diagnosis
human-centered patient care
His objective: to offer each patient a tailored and safe solution to combat hair loss, while restoring confidence and self-esteem.
Conclusion
Between cosmetic surgery, hair transplantation, photography, and a passion for nature, Dr Arthur Movsisyan embodies a complete vision of medicine: rigorous, artistic, and deeply human.
In Mauritius, he continues to combine international medical expertise with his love for the island that welcomed him more than two decades ago.
